Cape Wind Foes Spent $2 Million on Lobbying
This week National Journal reported on the huge battle over Cape Wind, a project off Nantucket Sound that is poised to become the country's first offshore wind farm if it can get past the remaining regulatory obstacles. In our story (subscription required) we reported that $1.4 million has been spent on federal lobbying against the project by the powerful opposition group the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound. Now, we've unearthed news about additional federal lobbying dollars that bring the anti-Cape Wind lobbying total to a cool $2 million. It turns out that alliance board member William Koch spent $620,000 through his company Oxbow to lobby against Cape Wind in 2006 and 2007.

Was not Koch was under investigation by the IRS because of that back-door lobbying by his own (think: fossil fuels) company?... Thereby also jeopardizing the -D'alliance to 'Protect' the VIEW of the FEW's- 501 C3 'non-profit' status?
Ironic, that the well funded COAL & OIL backed opponents have spent almost $30mil fighiting to save 'THEIR' view... And have to date lost at least six cases in federal court against the project...
While the local grass-roots organization supporting the project - 'Clean Power Now' (cleanpowernow.org) have raised & spent a mere $3mil to educate & inform the public about the truth & benefits of the CAPE WIND project in order to offset the fearmongering, misrepresentations & lies of the opponents...
And to date the project has been approved by: The Army Corps of Engineers, The United States Coast Guard, The Massachusetts Office of Enviornmental Affairs, The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, Minerals Management Services (MMS) of the Department of Interior...
And is strongly supported by our Governor Duval Patrick, many state senators & representatives, all respected local, state & national envirnmental organizations.
Thankfully, very soon the project will be granted it's permit & after a short flurry of more irresponsible court challanges by the opposing cabal...
We will see this wonderful project under construction in the waters of Nantucket Sound and benefiting the residents of the Cape & Islands with cleaner air, water & food...
While helping to reduce our carbon footprint & our unhealthy need for imported fossil fuels

You have to wonder what Obama will do. Will he allow Cape Wind to go through even though Ted Kennedy is entirely against the project.?
