The competition among K Street firms to lure top Democrats from Capitol Hill is fierce and Kountoupes Consulting appears to be the most recent winner in the bidding war for senior Hill aides. The three-person lobbying firm expands to four with the addition of Melissa Shannon, senior policy adviser to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who is joining the firm as executive vice president. Shannon worked on a diverse number of areas including high-tech and women's issues for Pelosi. Prior to Pelosi, Shannon worked for Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y.
"Our clients will not only benefit from her policy expertise, but also her keen political insight into workings of the congressional leadership," said Lisa Kountoupes, president of Kountoupes Consulting.
